The Model
YM4004 line hose and hood testing accessory must be slaved to a VON
glove/sleeve testing machine or blanket testing machine with power supply
and high voltage switching circuits. This four-position accessory is
a single cabinet 30" deep X 96" wide X 79" high. It will accommodate
line hose up to six feet long. The unit will operate to 50kv A.C. or
70kv D.C. for class 4 protective equipment testing. Four line hose or
four hoods may be tested at a time.
The high voltage supply with its automatic controls and kilovoltmeter are provided by the glove machine master. Each test position has it own fault detection and a 0-10 milliamp current meter so the operator can determine if its hose or hood is being tested.
The line hose and hoods are first fitted into their special fitted electrodes. The inside electrode for the hose is a properly sized rod. The outside electrode is a piece of shaped aluminum hinged along one side. The hose or hoods with their electrodes are then placed into the machine and connected to their high voltage and ground terminals. The center electrode is a high voltage and the outer electrode is at ground. The operator then closes the access door and turns the accessory exhaust fan ON with a toggle switch. This removes the solenoid operated ground from the high voltage cable from the master. He punches the ready button on the glove machine. The hose are then be taken through the high voltage test cycle automatically. An item which fails will stop the test, cause a red pilot light to flash, sound a steady audible signal, and return the variable autotransformer to its zero position.
Electrodes
are provided for testing four line hose and four hoods. The model numbers
and sizes of the line hose and hoods to be tested should be specified
with the order.
